The XPanel monolithic panel system consists of panels with an expanded polystyrene (EPS) core between two welded steel meshes, joined by diagonal connectors. The panels are installed as specified in the project and completed with concrete applied on site.
The meshes, connectors and concrete form the structural assembly; the EPS core provides insulation and a substrate for applying concrete. The manufacturer’s data sheet lists different panel references, from XP-30 to XP-200, according to EPS thickness. No strength, insulation, finished-thickness or timeframe value can simply be applied to a home: the selected reference, calculations, applicable tests and project details must first be checked.
Welded meshes on both sides of the EPS core, diagonal connectors between them and layers of concrete applied on site make up the solution described in the data sheet.
The EPS core contributes to thermal insulation. Thermal and acoustic values must be checked for the selected panel reference, not for the system in the abstract.
Junctions with floor slabs, openings and the roof are detailed to address thermal continuity for the project.
The data sheet consulted describes 100 × 100 mm meshes with Ø4 mm wire and, as a general configuration, 23 diagonal connectors per m². Its current validity and the specified variant must be confirmed.
For the sprayed wall shown, the installation manual gives a reference of 45 mm from the EPS surface in two coats: the first covers the mesh and the second completes the thickness. This is not a universal dimension for every panel.
After the second coat, the manual recommends a floated finish and describes finishing alternatives ranging from a thin coat to a ventilated façade. Concrete curing requires particular care; the manual does not prescribe a monocouche render thickness.
